Grammie is driving me nuts! She's always up to her eyeballs in all these things she has to do. Sure, she still squeezes in time to play with me and take me to my appointments, but come on – I want more playtime! She’s great at making sure I’ve got awesome people around who help me learn new stuff and keep practicing the old stuff, but let’s be real, it’s not the same as hanging out with her.
Playing Peek-a-boo with Grammie is the best though. She’s a pro at changing up her voices to crack me up every time I peek out from my blanket. I know she tries really hard to spend time with me and never forgets to check in when she’s around. And, hey, I’ve got my tricks to grab her attention even if she’s swamped. All it takes is a crinkly face and just a few well-timed tears, and boom – Grammie’s right there with me.
Grammie’s always pushing me to do my best, and yeah, sometimes it’s super annoying because I don’t always feel like doing what she wants. But hey, it’s working. I’ve got my head-holding game on point – I can hold it up way longer now than I could last week. Oh, and get this, I can stay off my ventilator for almost 10 and a half hours a day now, without any issues! Grammie and Ms. Dawn say my stats are way better when I’m off it. Honestly, I’m just loving the break from all those wires and tubes. I get to move around more, and everyone else is pretty happy about it too – fewer alarms going off because I’m not yanking on tubes.
Grampa’s still here, which means extra playtime! He lets me tug on his chin hair, gives me tons of kisses, and we have these hilarious growling sessions when the rest of the house is asleep. It’s going to stink when he heads back to North Carolina at the end of the month, though. I’m really going to miss him when he’s gone.
But don’t worry, it’s not just me and Grammie. Mommy and Daddy are still around too. Mommy stays up with me some nights, even though I totally catch her dozing off now and then. Daddy’s got work, so he can’t hang out as much, but that’s okay. Grammie, Dawn, Grampa, and Amelia are all busy teaching my parents how to take care of me and figure out what I need. They’re doing a great job so far!
Grammie keeps reminding me that I’m almost one year old – can you believe it?! She says we’re going to do something super special for my birthday. I’ll even get to meet my great aunt Jane, great uncle Claude, and maybe my second cousin Billy and his wife Jasmine. Sounds like there might even be two birthday parties because there are just so many people who love me, and Grammie wants everyone to celebrate my big day. How cool is that?
My birthday is only 27 days away, and I’m way too excited to wait!
