Upcoming Excitement

Things are moving forward for Zayden. He is growing so much with his abilities, his progress, and his discoveries every day. We have been working a lot on his tummy time to continue to strengthen his core, arm, and leg muscles. Zay-Zay (his nickname) uses his Stander at least twice a day for a minimum of 20 minutes each time and is now at a complete 90-degree angle with the floor. Zay's hand-eye coordination is also improving by leaps and bounds.

July also holds some exciting events. Zay will be going in for a sleep study to see if he can be taken off the vent full time with his trach being capped. Currently, he is off the vent from 5 am until 11 pm. Each morning, when we administer 5 am medications, we turn off his vent and uncuff Zay's trach. We then reverse his 11 pm medications by turning on his vent and inflating the cuff on his trach until the next morning. He tolerates this routine very well with some attitude after his vent is started back at night. He attempts and succeeds often, with him disconnecting the vent hose multiple times throughout the night, requiring our constant monitoring.
