Today is a truly special day. Ms. Dawn, Zayden's primary day nurse, is being honored with the prestigious DAISY Award. Out of many deserving nominations, hers stood out and was chosen by the selection committee.
The DAISY Award is an internationally recognized program that honors nurses for their extraordinary and compassionate care. Nominations come from patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals. Created by the DAISY Foundation, this award was established as a way for the Barnes family to express gratitude to the nurses who cared for their son, Patrick, during his illness. The award not only highlights the profound impact nurses have on their patients but also serves as a source of encouragement and gratitude for the kindness they bring to healthcare.
Today, several leaders from Angels of Care, Zayden's nursing agency, will visit our home to recognize Ms. Dawn’s outstanding contributions. During a heartfelt ceremony, she will be presented with her DAISY Award certificate, a copy of her nomination, a DAISY Award pin, and a beautiful sculpture called "Healer's Touch."
My heart is full of joy for Ms. Dawn. The care, compassion, and unwavering love she has shown for Zayden have exceeded every expectation I had when we first met her. I truly cannot imagine where we would be today without her.
